Technical Data: Surface Modification of Polyvinyl Alcohol Thin Films

Using a vacuum ultraviolet excimer lamp! Examining how the chemical structure of polyvinyl alcohol changes.

Vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light, due to its short wavelength and high photon energy, can break molecular bonds through non-thermal processes, leading to advancements in applications such as cleaning, microfabrication, and surface modification. In this document, after spin-coating a PVA aqueous solution onto a gold-coated substrate, a heating treatment was performed to create a film, which was then irradiated with a xenon excimer lamp (172 nm) under a nitrogen or dry air atmosphere. Using an infrared spectrometer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, we observed changes in the chemical state of the PVA film due to VUV irradiation. [Features] ■ Introduction ■ Experiment ■ Results and Discussion *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Technical Data: Modification of Sol-Gel Films by Vacuum Ultraviolet Light Irradiation

Measurement of ultraviolet and visible light transmission spectrum using a spectrophotometer! Introduction to the modification of sol-gel thin films.

The sol-gel method, which is a promising approach to obtain coatings with uniform composition, typically requires heat treatment at several hundred degrees Celsius to remove moisture from the gel film and decompose organic components. This makes it difficult to obtain a strong film on low-temperature-resistant plastics. Therefore, the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light-based photon process can be considered applicable for modifying thin films, as it can break atomic bonds solely through the action of photons without accompanying thermal processes from irradiation. This document introduces the changes in state when VUV light is irradiated onto nickel oxide thin films adjusted by the sol-gel method, using an excimer lamp developed as a practical light source. Technical Data: Modification of Polymers Using Vacuum Ultraviolet Light and the Effect of Irradiation Atmosphere

Surface modification technology using vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light! Examination of the differences in modification effects.

Polymers are lightweight and flexible, making them suitable for various applications. Recently, a surface modification technique using vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light has gained attention. VUV light has a short wavelength and high photon energy, allowing it to break molecular bonds through non-thermal processes. Compared to typical physical surface treatments such as plasma treatment, it is low-cost and causes minimal damage to the surface while enabling surface modification. In this study, we investigated the physical and chemical changes on the surface caused by VUV light irradiation on polymers, as well as the differences in modification effects due to the ambient gas during irradiation. Ultraviolet irradiation device "Lumarie XK15"

Space disinfection of viruses and bacteria using ultraviolet light! Introduction to ultraviolet irradiation devices (UVGI).

The "Rumalie XK15" is a UV irradiation device (UVGI) that uses a UV lamp to generate UV-C, also known as "germicidal rays." By using a special louver to emit ultraviolet rays only in the horizontal direction, it divides the indoor space into zones for human activity and ultraviolet exposure, enabling continuous 24-hour irradiation in spaces where people are present, which was not possible with conventional ultraviolet irradiation devices. The Philips UV lamp used in this product has a lifespan of approximately 8,000 hours (replaced once a year), compared to the typical UV lamp lifespan of about 4,000 to 6,000 hours (replaced twice a year for 24-hour irradiation), significantly reducing maintenance costs. 【Features】 ■ Uses a UV lamp that generates UV-C ■ High safety and stability ■ Emits ultraviolet rays only in the horizontal direction due to a special louver ■ Achieves continuous 24-hour irradiation in spaces where people are present ■ Significantly reduces maintenance costs *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

An alternative to air purifiers! Contributing to virus prevention: 'Ultraviolet irradiation device'

Implemented in nurseries, offices, hotels, etc.! Removes aerosols, viruses, bacteria, and more that float in the air indoors! No filters required, and no maintenance needed.

"RaySmart" is a UV irradiation device that removes aerosols, viruses, and bacteria floating in indoor spaces. Since it is filterless and requires no maintenance, you can use it with peace of mind after installation checks and annual maintenance inspections. It has a proven track record in kindergartens, schools, stores, hotels, restaurants, offices, and more, and is safely installed on walls, not affecting daily living areas. Indoor air is transported to the UV irradiation area formed near the ceiling by natural convection. The sterilization effect in indoor spaces is equivalent to 10 to 25 times of ventilation per hour. <<What is an aerosol?>> Aerosols refer to a state where fine particles are suspended in the air, smaller than droplets. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Technical Document] Effect of Light Irradiation on TiO2 Gel Films by Wet Process

Contributing to the low-temperature process of thin film formation! A comparative study on the decomposition process and changes in crystal structure.

To obtain a strong and dense film on plastics with low heat resistance, it is necessary to lower the temperature in the thin film formation process. The photon process using vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light has an energy per photon that is greater than the bond energy of atoms in most materials. Furthermore, since it can cleave atomic bonds solely through the action of photons without accompanying thermal processes from irradiation, it is expected to contribute to the reduction of temperature in the thin film formation process. In this study, we compared and examined the decomposition process and changes in crystal structure of TiO2, which is widely used in industry, when gel films were thermally treated and when VUV light irradiation from an excimer lamp was combined with thermal treatment. [Contents] ■ Introduction ■ Experimental Methods ■ Results and Discussion *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
